LA LIGA | SUNDAY ROUND 2 GAMES FINAL RESULTS

LA LIGA | SUNDAY ROUND 2 GAMES FINAL RESULTS

Spanish Liga Round 2 continued today with the scheduled Sunday matches. Here are all the final results along with all the goalscorers.
Spanish Liga 2015-2016

Relative surprise result at Eibar which defeated Athletic Club Bilbao 2 - 0. Excellent effort from the home team which went ahead early when Bilbao defender Laporte fouled Enrich in the goal square. The consequent penalty was transformed by Berjon in the 33rd min. The second goal came in the 61st min through Adrian Gonzalez.

Other "related" news is that Athletic Club & Atletico de Madrid are negotiating the transfer of the latter midfield player Raul Garcia.

La Liga Spain Soccer 2015-2016

Deportivo A Coruña travelled to Valencia CF to leave with a deserved 1 - 1 result. A very serious Deportivo team which was tactically well placed & spirited. They went ahead first in the 39th min through Lucas Perez, but Negredo managed to score for Valencia & draw in the 45th min.

Thereafter, punch for punch with chances created by both sides but neither being able to pull off a final knock-out punch. Shared points!

Spain Soccer Liga

Sevilla FC hosted Atletico de Madrid & was harshly punished with a 0 - 3 loss. The result does not transmit the brave & enormous physical effort in the 2º half that Sevilla put in trying to find the equalizer. Atletico was under siege most of the 2º half but managed to hold out Sevilla, in itself a merit to be mentioned.

The first half was for Atletico de Madrid which eventually took over, controlled & scored through Koke in the 35th min. However as mentioned, the 2º half was another story & Sevilla FC deserved at least the draw. But during a late change Jackson Martinez for Torres, Atletico Captain Gabi shot & got a deflection to score in the 79th min. Mayor moral blow for Sevilla which was later punished again by a third goal in the 84th min when Jackson Martinez scored a superb goal from outside the box.

Win to the visitors & the 3 points to Atletico.  Sevilla tonight felt how Football can be cruel sometimes.

Las Palmas 0 Levante 0

Getafe 1 (Latifa 80m)  - Granada 2 (El-Arabi 27m Success 29m)

LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL | ROUND 2 SATURDAY MATCH RESULTS

LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL | ROUND 2 SATURDAY MATCH RESULTS

Spanish Football action this weekend with Round 2 of La Liga matches. Here are all the Saturday games final results along with all the goalscorers.
Villarreal CF

The Round 2 opener was the Friday Night match between Villarreal & RCD Espanyol. The final result & the 3 points went to the home side 3 - 1 with a 2º half comeback with new signing Roberto Soldado starring.

Espanyol got ahead first with an early 4th min goal from Caicedo. However, Villarreal took advantage of the lack of finishing endeavour from the visitors & slowly pulled their game back together. In the 66th min Roberto Soldado pulled a quick shot out of the bag to score & lifted moral. Later in the 86th min Soldado passed to Bakambu who equalized, to later score again with the winner in the 93rd min. Two vital goals from Bakambu & inspirational Soldado for Villarreal.
La Liga 2015-2016

Real Sociedad hosted this afternoon Real Sporting de Gijon with the home team putting from the start returning "home" midfielder Asier Illaramendi from Real Madrid. The final result a 0 - 0 draw in a game that saw both teams work hard but create very little goal opportunities.

Spanish Football La Liga 2015-2016

FC Barcelona hosted Malaga FC with Brazilian star Neymar back after sickness to boost the forward line. The final result was a worked 1 - 0 victory for Barça with a 74th min goal by defender Vermaelen after he hooked onto a loose ball that Malaga goalie Kameni could not hold from a Suarez shot.

Malaga stood firm all match & neutralized the Barça efforts at goal. However, the continuous advances by Barça finally managed to crack the Malaga tactical stance for the 3 points.

La Liga 2015

Celta de Vigo defeated Madrid club Rayo Vallecano 3 - 0 with the latter down to 10 men from the 9th min. From that red card given to Rayo goalie Toño came the first of two goals from Celta forward Nolito in the 11th min. The second goal from Nolito came in the 50th minute & Celta managed to control the match till the end even scoring a third goal through Fontas in the 90th min.

spanish liga 2015

Real Madrid defeated Real Betis 5 - 0 & left aside the debate about the teams lack of goals this season. James Rodriguez & Benzema started from the beginning & both gave the team more flow & punch upfront & were protagonists. Gareth Bale was also active & was also under the spotlight himself scoring, while Cristiano Ronaldo still was unlucky facing goal even though he had plenty of chances. Lastly, Keylor Navas sent a message over to Directives as he put in a great match, including stopping a 2º half penalty!

The goalscorers were:

  • Gareth Bale (header) 2nd min
  • James Rodriguez (free-kick) 38th min
  • Karim Benzema (header) 47th min
  • James Rodriguez (overhead) 49th min
  • Gareth Bale (outside the box - 20 mts - shot) 88th min
Sergio Ramos hit the post with an overhead 76th min!

Good performance overall by Real Madrid which looks like getting the pieces back in order.

SPAIN LIST FOR UPCOMING EURO 2016 QUALIFIERS

SPAIN LIST FOR UPCOMING EURO 2016 QUALIFIERS

Spanish National Football Team Selector & Coach Vicente del Bosque handed in his list of 23 players for the upcoming Euro 2016 Group qualifiers. Spain plays in the Spanish city of Oviedo Slovakia the 5th of September, to then travel to play Macedonia on the 8th of September.

Vital match against Slovakia where Spain is currently second in the Group behind them & needs a victory to take the top spot & with it the direct access into the Euro 2016 finals.

Some local Football observers have been surprised that Del Bosque has not called up Athletic Club Bilbao forward Aduriz. However, his 34 years of age could be his handicap as the Spanish Coach prefers to bet on young & the future.

Spanish Football Team

Full list of 23 players to represent Spain:

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, David De Gea, Sergio Rico
Defenders: Juanfran, Azpilicueta, Pique, Sergio Ramos, Bartra, Jordi Alba, Bernat

Champions League Groups

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP TEAMS MATCH-UPS 2015-2016

The Champions League Groups for season 2015-2016 have been drawn with the following results for the five Spanish Football Clubs competing:

Champions League 2015-2016 Groups

Group A: Real Madrid with Paris St Germain, Shakhtar & Malmo,

Group C: Atletico de Madrid with Benfica, Galatasaray & Astana,

Group D: Sevilla FC with Juventus FC, Manchester City FC & Borussia Monchengladbach,

Group E: FC Barcelona with Bayern Leverkusen, Roma & Bate Borisov,

Group H: Valencia CF with Zenit, O.Lyon & Gent.

Beforehand, Sevilla FC seems to have fallen into the most difficult Group along with Real Madrid which faces PSG. However, as always mentioned, at this level all Clubs are dangerous & have the potential to shake the believed favourites.

Lastly, as expected FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi was awarded the "UEFA Best Player of The Year 2014-2015" ahead of the other candidates Luis Suarez (FC Barcelona) & Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid). This fully deserved award puts Lionel Messi on course towards his 5th FIFA Golden Ball Award which will be announced in January 2016.

Four Red Cards in UEFA's Third Qualifying Round

Video Analysis: Four Red Cards in UEFA's Third Qualifying Round First Legs

Analysis of four red cards shown in last week's Champions League and Europa League Third Qualifying Round. There were more interesting situations last week, so this is only a small essence. What these cards have all in common: They were correct and serve as good examples for how things should or should not be like.

Collum sending off Schwab

Situation 1: Rapid Wien - Ajax Amsterdam (William Collum and his assistant Francis Connor involved)

Without any doubt, Collum correctly sent off the Rapid player for his terrible two-feet-jumping-tackle on his opponent, which clearly and seriously endangered the latter's safety. The force of this challenge was excessive for sure making it a black-and-white case of serious foul play.
The way Collum and his assistant referee Connor managed this situation deserves praise as well. Both showed immediate presence to prevent retaliation or a mass-confrontation following the tackle that was justifiably perceived as brutal by the non-offending team. Collum correctly protected the offender still being at the ground and approached by some furious Ajax players. Good preventive management for sure.

In such a case, the benefit from sorting out the red card as quickly as possible outweighs the circumstance that you should actually not raise a card against a player who is still on the ground. This means: A too late shown card involves the risk of forcing possible confrontations, while a card shown against a player who is still on the turf involves the risk of showing too little respect for his person, which was in this case less relevant and smaller. Conducting this weighing-up-process, Collum's player management was therefore justifiable and fully ok - in other, "normal" situations, never show a card to a player lying aground!

The only thing both match officials should be reminded on is the need to show presence in a determined, but nonetheless composed and deescalating way. Collum and Connor both sprinted to the situation, which has the chance to signalize assertiveness and preventive management, but can also inflame confrontations and heat up the situation unnecessarily. Same goes for Collum's repeated whistles and quite offensive gesture "Leave the field!". Additionally, referees should refrain from touching or even pushing players (too intensely).

On the whole, a well managed situation though.

Situation 2: Jablonec - Kobenhavn (Mattias Gestranius and his assistant Jan-Peter Aravirta involved)

Despite the poor video quality, you are very likely able to see that this tackle belongs to the most dangerous subtypes of serious foul play. Studs were shown in a stretched and almost jumped way, making strong, unfair contact with the defender's upper calf. A similar foul in German Bundesliga was once sanctioned with an 8-match-suspension.

Also here, the officials' management was good. Gestranius quickly showed the red card after a whistle which could have been a bit more intense and longer. After quickly asking for medical treatment, he then attempted to deescalate the situation and, along with his assistant, slightly protected or shielded the player for a short time. Things became calmer after that. It should be noted that the assistant referee correctly supported the referee actively at first to ensure that the confrontation would not escalate too much, and later, as soon as it was clear that things had already calmed a bit down, moved into a more indirect "monitoring" position.

In more escalating mass-confrontations, the nearest assistant referee should enter the field of play and support the referee directly. The other assistant referee should stay a bit more distant and monitor as well as record all events going on to be able to assist the referee later when it comes to issuing disciplinary sanctions against preferably both teams.

Situation 3: Panathinaikos - Club Brügge (Vladislav Bezborodov involved)

After two good examples, one not that positive example: Vladislav Bezborodov at first only issued a yellow card following the intense and forceful tackle by the Panathinaikos midfielder. Before the re-start of play, he however changed his mind, very likely following input of his assistant referee or the fourth official, and issued a red card. Technically, this is possible, but practically, it should be avoided of course. First discuss situations in your team, then decide! Not vice versa.

The tackle itself did not show any studs, but was nonetheless very hard in terms of its speed and intensity which should be deemed as excessive force that more or less clearly endangers the safety of the opponent. The criteria for serious foul play were fulfilled, or, in other words: This tackle was more than reckless.

Apart from the decision-changing-process, Bezborodov's player management and decision-communication were both not meeting the requirements:

1) When raising the yellow card, he still had his whistle in his mouth. Never do that. It does not show that much respect (more on that in another post in future). It also deprives yourself of the opportunity to communicate with the offender and to explain your decision.

2) After the red card decision, it was absolutely clear that the players would not understand what had just happened. Instead of explaining the procedure and decision, Bezborodov offensively yelled at the players, repeated the same gesture "Out!" again and again without effectiveness. He repeatedly walked away from the players some metres but they still followed him protesting.

Instead, he should have taken his time to shortly but efficiently explain the decision to the Panathinaikos captain while expressing determination at the same time. Of course, if they continue to protest, it is justified to refrain from too long explanations and even to caution any of the players / the most actively protesting player with a yellow card.

Situation 4: Dinamo Zagreb - Molde FK (Serge Gumienny, assistant Jimmy Cremers and fourth official Christof Dierick involved)

Serge Gumienny correctly dismissed an already substituted player for abusive and insultive gestures against the supporters. As he already did that when he was still on the field of play, maybe the officials should have noticed it earlier which would have had effects on the planned and ongoing substitution and number of players. All officials should stay concentrated at all times during a substitution - if you spot a player making such gestures on the field of play, then send him off immediately.
The decision itself nonetheless deserves compliment as it well mirrors the referee's fulfilled duty to protect the good of football and keep insultive and abusive conduct out of the game.

Fernando Llorente returns to Spanish Football

FERNANDO LLORENTE TO SEVILLA FC

After weeks of speculation, Spanish & Juventus FC forward Fernando Llorente returns to Spanish Football. Spanish press has announced that Sevilla FC will be the new home of Llorente for the next three seasons after a 10M€ transfer deal (other sources say that his transfer is at zero cost ) with the Italian Club according to Italian media. The terms of payment is delaying the official Club announcement but everyone takes it as a formality & a done deal.

Sevilla FC get themselves a top notch forward to replace Carlos Bacca who signed for AC Milan.

                Goes to Sevilla FC 2015

Said the above, Sevilla FC & Juventus FC are also talking about the possibility of Chilean International Mauricio Isla landing in Sevilla. A difficult prospect but apparently open & possible that we will have to wait & see. Stay tuned!

La Liga 2015-2016

2015–16 La Liga

The 2015–16 La Liga season (known as the Liga BBVA for sponsorship reasons) will be the 85th since its establishment. Barcelona are the defending champions. The season is scheduled to start on 22 August 2015, and will conclude on 15 May 2016.

La Liga: Unconvincing Atletico Madrid make winning start against Las Palmas
Atletico Madrid got their La Liga campaign up and running in less than convincing fashion when Antoine Griezmann's deflected free kick secured an edgy 1-0 win at home to promoted Las Palmas on Saturday.
Valencia, who like Atletico are hoping to challenge heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title, also failed to shine in their opening game of the season and were held to a 0-0 draw at Rayo Vallecano.

Griezmann's strike clipped the Las Palmas wall on its way into the net in the 17th minute at the Calderon but Atletico struggled to create further chances and the visitors, back in Spain's top flight for the first time in 13 years, made them sweat in the second halfLas Palmas defender David Simon was left unmarked at the far post and headed against the crossbar and Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak had to make an excellent save when the ball ricocheted towards goal at a corner 18 minutes from time.
Colombia striker Jackson Martinez, making his La Liga debut after joining from Porto in the close season, had a quiet night before making way for Fernando Torres midway through the second period.
"We played a good first half and controlled the match," Atletico fullback Filipe Luis told Spanish television. "But obviously the scoreline was precarious because if Las Palmas had scored it looked like it would have been difficult for us to get another," added the Brazil international, who has returned to Madrid after a year at English champions Chelsea.
"But we controlled the match at all times and were very solid in defence so I think it was a deserved victory. It's always challenging in the opening game after a tough pre-season and we just need to keep improving."
SULTRY NIGHT
Valencia, who play the second leg of their Champions League playoff at Monaco on Tuesday having won Wednesday's first leg 3-1, appeared sluggish on a sultry night at Rayo's stadium in the Madrid suburbs.
Nuno's side were missing several key players, including captain Dani Parejo, due to suspensions carried over from last season and were lucky to come away with a point as Rayo dominated in the second half and squandered several openings.
Alvaro Negredo came close to snatching a win for the visitors in the 91st minute but his fierce shot was brilliantly saved by Rayo goalkeeper Tono.
Valencia will need to up their game if they are to hold off Monaco and secure a lucrative berth in the group stage of Europe's elite club competition.
Espanyol joined Atletico, champions in 2014, on three points at the top when they won 1-0 at home to Getafe, while David Moyes' Real Sociedad side were held to a 0-0 draw at Deportivo La Coruna.
Champions Barca begin their bid for a sixth La Liga title in eight years when they travel to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday (1630 GMT) before Real play at promoted Sporting Gijon (1830).

The Premier League ('The Premiership' or 'Barclays Premier League') is the top league competition for English football. It is above The Football League. For historic reasons, a few clubs from Wales compete in the English football system. One of these, Swansea City, has played in the Premier League since the 2011–12 season. Cardiff City also played in the Premier League in the 2013–14 season.
The competition started in 1992. Clubs in the Football League First Division decided to break away from The Football League, founded in 1888. The Premier League has since become the world's most watched sporting league. It is the world's most lucrative football league, with combined club revenues of £1.93 billion ($3.15bn) in 2007–08. It is also ranked first by UEFA. This rating is based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. In this English Premier League is ahead of Spain's La Liga and Italy's Serie A.
A total of 46 clubs have competed in the Premier League, but only five have won the title: Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City

CAF represents the national football associations of Africa, runs continental, national, and club competitions, and controls the prize money, regulations and media rights to those competitions.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF/ˈkæf/; French: Confédération Africaine de Football; Arabic: الإتحاد الأفريقي لكرة القدم‎) is the administrative and controlling body for African association football.
CAF is the biggest of six continental confederations of FIFA. Although it is just three years younger than the UEFA, CAF still has a long way to go in order to improve the quality of the national and local competitions. CAF has been given 5 slots out of the 32 available since the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, this increased to 6 in 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, to include the hosts. The number of places returned to 5 for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
CAF was founded on 8 February 1957 in Khartoum, Sudan by the Egyptian, Ethiopian, South African and Sudanese FAs, following former discussions between the Egyptian, Somali, South African and Sudanese FAs earlier in 7 June 1956 in Avenida Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal. Its first headquarters was situated in Khartoum, Sudan for some months until a fire outbreak in the offices of the Sudanese Football Association when the organization moved near Cairo. Youssef Mohammad was the first General Secretary and Abdel Aziz Abdallah Salem the president. The administrative center since 2002 is located in 6th of October City, near Cairo. It was initially made up of 4 national associations. Currently there are 56 associations, 54 full members beside Zanzibar and Réunion Island as associates. (see the bottom of this page or List of CAF national football teams).
The current CAF President is Issa Hayatou. Suketu Patel is the 1st Vice-President, Almamy Kabele Camara is the 2nd Vice-President while Hicham El Amrani is the Secretary General.

History of CAF

Headquarter of CAF in 6th of October City, Egypt.

From a humble beginning in 1957, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has grown into a respected organisation that today can hold its head high anywhere in the world. The Confederation of African Football began its formation at the 29th FIFA Congress in Bern, Switzerland, in June 1954.

Africa was represented at the

Congress by four national

associations: Egypt, who had joined FIFA in

1923; Sudan affiliated in 1948; Ethiopia in 1953 and South

Africa in 1910 and 1952. It was at that Congress that Africa

was recognised as a zonal group with a right to have for the

first time a representative on the FIFA Executive Committee.

This representation was taken up by Engineer Abdel Aziz

Abdallah Salem of Egypt.

It was not an easy task to get this recognition, Argentina kicked against the seats given to Africa and Asia arguing that the standard of football in these continents was not good enough, although at the previous Congress in Paris in 1953 it was agreed that Africa will be given the right to be represented subsequently. There was a long, heated argument.Africa's position was supported by Great Britain and the eastern countries, 24 votes in favour, 17 against. The Congress then elected Abdel Aziz Abdallah Salem to represent Africa on the Executive Committee until a confederation was founded. Then, the African delegation agreed to meet in Lisbon in 1956 on the occasion of the FIFA Congress to realise the project.
Due to the Ethiopian Football Federation's lack of funds, Ydnekatchew Tessema was unable to travel to the historic 1954 FIFA Congress in Bern, which recognized Africa as a FIFA zone. The other African members were represented, not only in Bern, but at the 1956 Lisbon Congress as well.

CAF Best Footballers of the Century

The voting to select the best of the century
refers to three categories: male
player, goalkeeper and female player, and is
obtained from five different steps. The
resulting best players and goalkeepers were
honored during the "World Football Gala
1999". Voting process as explained by the
IFFHS.
